Building your trip plan

Details on the Plan and its components

Your Plan is the heart of your Trip, and represents the scheduled view of what will happen when. Currently, the foundational components of your Plan are 1) Days and 2) Blocks.

  • Days - By default, Days are not given dates, but once you set a Date range for your trip, Day 1 will show the start date, and each Day in the list will be set to the consecutive date. Updating the Date range of the Trip will also change the dates set for each Day.
  • Blocks - Blocks are the core components of planning, and can represent whatever you want them to. Though you can set some details on blocks, they’re meant to be very flexible
    • There are three types of Blocks: Transit, Lodging and Events. Learn more about these at About blocks

Add a Block

  1. Within each Day card, you’ll see a plus (+) button which is the action to Add a block. Click it to add a new Block to that Day.
  2. Like trips, Blocks default with no information except a default name of 'New block'. No other information is required, but the date defaults to the day you are in.

Edit a Block

  1. To add or change details on a Block, click the Edit icon on the right side of the Block tile. This will open a dialogue with all possible details.
  2. Give your block a title
  3. Select what type of Block it is. (See below for information on Block Types) Depending on the type of Block you choose, the details you can add will change.
  4. Click Save and the Block will update with the new details.

Add a Participant to a Block

  1. You can select which Participants should be included in the block by going to the Participant tab within the Edit Block dialogue.
  2. Select or deselect the participants who will be involved with this Block.
  3. Save these changes, and their avatars will appear on the Block tile.

Note on Block Participants

  • You can add Participants that are specific to the Block. Blocks are visible to everyone by default, however if you add a new Participant to a Block (ie, a participant that is not already added as a Trip participant) they will only see the Block they’re added to.

Delete a Block

  • Select the overflow menu icon (⋮) on the Block, and click Delete block.

Please let us know if you have any suggestions for the blocks in terms of behaviour, features, etc. We want this to be simultaneously incredibly flexible and amorphous whilst also being as intelligent as possible. We’re trying to avoid over-engineering and pigeon-holing.
